watermarks?

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 21, 2008, 1:17 AM

Hello there. It's raining like a banshee outside. I've put my own watermarks on some of my latest art pieces, but I really don't feel like going back and adding them to every single other piece of digital art I've made. So I was wondering if it would annoy my watchers and visitors if I put watermarks on the full views of my images, the ones that dA can put on? I haven't seen any of my art re-posted elsewhere but I always worry since it's happened in the past on other sites. I don't really think my work is that great in the first place but I would be really annoyed if I saw someone posting it as their own so I'm not sure what I want to do. On my personal website I have a flash gallery so there isn't really a way to steal stuff there, but here, I just worry, you know? Ok. Time for features.

I say go ahead and put the watermarks on them, if it will make you feel more at ease. You worked hard on the pieces and you should be able to feel safe that no one can claim them as their own.

I've got a little dragon G worked into most of my artworks and a disclaimer on most of mine too.

yeah it definitely would make me feel more at ease. i don't think they're so immensely wonderful but i'd still feel so bad if they were stolen somehow as i always spend a lot of time on my work.

thanks for commenting!

Nooo your work is great, but even if it were only stick figures its still your work that you've poured your passions and heart and soul into.
So I don't blame you, heck, I agree with you, we have to protect what we've made.

My pleasure

watermarks are a false sense of security... and, to be effective... the ruin an image...

your most recently watermarked images have the watermark in an unobtrusive location.... down in the corner, away from everything..... 2 minutes and photoshop would erase that....

the watermarks DA puts on end up right in the middle of the image, pretty much obscuring it...

so personally, i have no use for watermarks and usually will never :+fav: an image that has them....

but that's just me :)
